LSSC operates on a year-round academic calendar, and courses are designated by semester credit hours. In most instances, a three-semester-hour course meets for three hours per week. However, certain courses that require laboratory work or skill practice may meet for more hours per week than the number of semester hours the course carries.

The maximum hours a student is allowed to enroll per semester are as follows:

Dual Enrollment students may have differing credit maximums outlined in the annual Dual Enrollment Agreements.

Any student wishing to obtain approval for additional credits beyond the maximum must have a 3.0 GPA, meet with an Academic Advisor, and submit a request form. Students can schedule advising appointments through myLSSC under the Student Resources card.
