Degree and Certificate Options

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) and Bachelor of Science (BS) - Four-year degree designed to accommodate the unique demands for direct entry and advancement within specific workforce sectors. 

Associate in Arts (AA) - Two-year degree that prepares a student for a bachelor’s degree

Specialized Associate in Arts Transfer (SAAT) - an associate level degree program that includes lower‑division coursework beyond the 60 credits required for the Associate in Arts Degree, designed for students planning to transfer to a designated Florida state university to complete a bachelor’s degree in a specific major.

Associate in Science (AS) - Two-year degree that prepares a student for direct entry into the workforce and can also prepare for select bachelor’s programs

Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) - A program of instruction that is designed for students who have already received an associate degree and are seeking specialized instruction to supplement their degree.

College Credit Certificate (CCC) - A program of instruction that provides focused instruction on a specific career field.

LSSC offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs at its locations in Lake and Sumter counties. Students may complete 50% or more of the designated programs at the following campus locations:

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education degree program will be prepared to teach and support students with varying learning needs in K–12 settings. Upon successful completion of all program coursework and the required FTCE assessments, graduates will be eligible for the appropriate Florida certification and endorsements. The program has been submitted for approval as an Initial Teacher Preparation (ITP) program with the Florida Department of Education’s Bureau of Educator Recruitment, Development, and Retention (BERDR), and approval is anticipated prior to the program’s August 2026 start.
