Non-Degree Seeking Students
Students may be admitted to LSSC as non-degree seeking if they meet one of the conditions outlined below:
-
Personal Enrichment, Job Skill Development, or Prerequisite Coursework:
Individuals who wish to enroll for personal enrichment, professional development, or to complete prerequisite courses for limited-access Health Professions programs may apply as non‑degree seeking. This classification will appear on the student’s LSSC transcript. -
Transient Enrollment:
Students who are pursuing a degree at another institution but plan to take a course at LSSC should enroll as transient students.- If the student’s home institution is a Florida public college or university, they must submit the electronic Transient Student Admissions Application through the FloridaShines website and are exempt from LSSC’s standard application fee.
- If the student’s home institution is outside Florida or is a private Florida institution, they must complete LSSC’s online Application for Admission, pay the application fee, and provide written approval from their home institution.
-
Applicants Age 18 or Older Without a High School Credential:
Individuals who are at least 18 years old, legally withdrawn from high school, and do not hold a standard high school diploma, a Certificate of Completion (CPT‑eligible), or a GED may be admitted as non‑degree seeking. These students are not eligible to earn a certificate or degree and will remain classified as provisional/special students until they submit an official high school equivalency diploma and GED transcript. Students admitted under this category must meet with an academic advisor before registering and may complete up to 12 credit hours before being required to meet full admission criteria for credit programs.
Note: Non‑degree seeking students who have completed coursework at another institution must submit all official transcripts to LSSC before reaching 12 attempted credit hours. Registration for future courses will be blocked until the Registrar's Office receives these transcripts.
