EDG-Education: General
EDG 4410 Classroom Management and Instruction (3 Credits )
This course has teacher candidates examine instructional, organizational, and classroom management strategies to create safe and effective learning environments. Topics include planning techniques, differentiated instruction and assessment strategies, effective teaching strategies, formal and informal assessment strategies, classroom management strategies, time management and techniques to accommodate the needs of all student populations. This course requires a field experience in a public school setting.
Prerequisite: Admission to the Elementary Education BS
Corequisite: EDG 4942 or documented consent of program director
EDG 4942 Practicum in Elementary Education II (3 Credits )
This course provides the teacher candidate with hands-on experiences that support professional growth within a real-world classroom setting. LSSC BSEE admin staff and partner school districts collaboratively secure a placement for the teacher candidate in a partner school where the candidate is able to practice, develop, and demonstrate the Florida Uniform Core Curricula (UCC) requirements (as per Florida statutes section 1004.04), Florida Reading Endorsement competencies, ESOL Endorsement competencies, and professional dispositions while working with students in variety of challenging environments, including but not limited to; high-poverty schools, urban schools, and rural schools. Teacher candidates will participate in at least ten hours per week in a clinical setting within this course.

EDG 4943 Practicum in Elementary Education III (3 Credits )
