Academic advising is an essential support service that helps students make informed decisions, stay on track academically, and work confidently toward their educational and career goals. All students are assigned an Academic Advisor upon admission to Lake-Sumter State College. Advisors support students in developing academic plans, exploring majors and transfer opportunities, and preparing for future pathways. Students are strongly encouraged to meet regularly with their advisor, whether they are just beginning their college experience or preparing to graduate or transfer.

Academic Advisors monitor student progress toward degree completion and provide ongoing support each term to assist with course planning and graduation readiness. Final graduation audits are completed by the Registrar’s Office once all requirements have been met. Because students are responsible for understanding and fulfilling graduation requirements, they are encouraged to regularly review their Degree Works audit through myLSSC and to meet with an Academic Advisor to ensure they remain on track for successful degree completion.

In addition, advising is available virtually through the Virtual Enrollment Service Center, a convenient one-stop resource for students across all campuses and online.
